Kristina and Todd – Rittenhouse Hotel Wedding part 2 of 3

As I mentioned yesterday, Kristina and Todd had a gorgeous wedding. Something a lot of couples don’t understand is that the more time we have to spend taking the “formal” portraits the better and more creative they are. Yes, I know people don’t want to see each other but when you give your photographer 30 minutes to take all the formals you are not even scratching the surface of what is possible. I suggest if you don’t want to see each other before the ceremony consider having a longer break between the ceremony and reception. Yes, I know guests hate sitting around but a few options are: a longer cocktail hour, a long enough break that people can go back to the hotel and refresh, some planned activities for people like a trolley tour of the city or a lite lunch at a local restaurant. When else will you be dressed to the nines and your partner looking haute! The formal portrait time is also a time to have some alone time with your spouse or future spouse. This is the time that the two of you can just be with each other and digest what is about to happen or just happened. There are so many emotions and thoughts running through your mind. It is very calming.

Kristina and Todd did just that. They gave themselves extra time to do family and bridal party portraits and themselves. We had some time to play and relax. I even had time to talk with Todd about the photos and the goal was to just relax and be with Kristina. He was so amped about the day and wanting to know what was next that he just couldn’t relax. Part of my job is getting my couples to feel comfortable in front of the camera and just have fun. I told Todd to just look at Kristina and how amazingly beautiful she looked and just BE with her. Well the pep talk worked for at least 10 minutes! =)

Even though you can’t see their faces you can tell they are enjoying this dance.

This cake cutting series is my best one ever. It is hilarious. Here I am talking about love and respect and Todd smashes cake in Kristina’s face. Not so nice but check out what Kristina’s dad does!
